I am new to Golf.

I want to understand the Scoring and Par in golf. I try to understand but not getting how to calculate scores in golf. Any one can help me.

Par is the score that an expert golfer should make on that particular hole; it is set in order to have a standard against which to measure score and determine handicaps. Par is generally based on the length of the hole, but allowance are made for level of difficulty caused by terrain features (e.g. doglegs, severe uphill terrain etc). The USGA’s guidelines for par according to distance are:

Par Men Women
3 up to 250 up to 210
4 251 to 470 211 to 400
5 over 470 401 to 575

Handicap, what is it? The means of enabling players of unequal abilities to compete against each other on equal standing . Depending on your location, there are may H’cap systems (SSS, Congu and the USGA H’cap System) available, we in Indonesia use the USGA H’cap System since yr 2000.
