Hole DetailsHole 1 This pleasant par 4 with a wide fairway and large green should help set the golfers positive mind for an enjoyable round of golf. Beware of the large bunker guarding the left side of the fairway. A recommended 3 wood off the tee is all that is needed to set up for an easy approach using a short iron to the green. Hole 2 This par 3 with a large green, offers a "go for it shot" but beware, anything short or too long will require a good bunker shot to get it close for par. Hole 3 A good straight drive will see the ball disappear beyond the crest of the hill and get the benefit of the down slope of the landing area. Push the ball right or left and face a long difficult bunker shot to the green. A smart shot her is short of the green, a bump and run shot to the relatively flat green - one putt for par. Hole 4 Another delightful par 3 that plays longer than it appears. A narrow opening to a big green weel protected by bunkers running the length of the green. Pin in the front position makes the green a lot more difficult. Hole 5 This hole, a part 4, if played intelligently, will yield many pars and a few birdies. From the tee box, check the position of the pin. Pin on the right side requires a well placed tee shot over the right bunker. A high soft second shot to the green, rewards the player. Beware of the high walled bunker in front of the green. Hole 6 This par 5 dogleg right is a tremendously testing hole requiring two well struck shots. The first must hug the left side of the fairway so that the best angle to the green is achieved. Reachable in two, but the smart shot is to lay up and play a wwedge to the two tier three club length green. Hold 7 This par 4 dogleg left, 315 meters, is reachable by hitting over the bunker , 245 metres is reachable by hitting over the bunker, 245 metre carry. But costly if miss hit. Smart players hit three woods off the tee into the landing area and are only a nine iron or wedge away. Hole 8 The most difficult par 4 on the Planters Nine. A 419 metre hole dogleg left with a generous landing area but guarded by bunkers left and water right. Your Second shot requires a mid to long iron, to a short green protected by bunkers on either side. Hole 9 A par 5 dogleg left with a large landing area which favors the right side. Large bunkers guarding the left side can be heart breaking. Reachable on the second shot to a protected green with water on the righ and bunker on the left. Play smart here, hit your second shot to set up your third shot to the green. Greedy play may cause a double bogey or worse. Hole 10 This par 4 another doglet left can be tamed by those who can carry the bunkers on the left. Smart players can favour the right side of the fairway and play one club stronger. The green is weill protected by bunkers and has a ridge running across the middle of the green. If the pin is in the back, play for the middle part of the green and rely on two putts for par. Hole 11 The shortest par 5 on the course. A pull to the left willl result in a long fairway bunker shot. A push or slice to the right can be deadly with water on the right side more the half way to the green. The green is set amidst bunkers on the left and a bunker on the right that might save you from water. If the pin is in the back, land your shot in the middel of the green, the back of the green slopes away from the golfer making it difficult to hold. Hole 12 The shortest part 3 on the course, requires a mid iron to a wedge dependng on the prevailing wind. The long green bends around a bunker in the middle front part of the green. A high soft shot will land safely on the green. This a delightful hole that will yield as many birdies as double bogeys. Hole 13 This long par 4 starts "Amens Corner". It will test all golfers both from the tee shot and from the fairway. The tee shot should pierce the center of the fairway to avoid bunkers left and right. Assuming the tee shot is good, a sloid mid to long iron will be need to find the green ptorected by a long green sie bunker and water on the right. Its better to miss the green left and take a chance on your chip and putt. Hole 14 The The second hole of "Amens Corner" and the shortest part 4 on the course, can leave you crying. This hole is no pushover. A well placed tee shot, favouring the right side can set up an easy short iron shot to the smallest gree. Beware danger lurks in the longest bunker on the left of the fairway and the water stretching the length of the hole on the right. Holde 15 The third hole of "Amens Corner" is the signature hole of the course. A dramatic par 3, 160 meters long from the back tees, has water from tee to gree. The right club selection to this four club length green, can lead a par pleasing the very best golfers. The amphi-theatre style bunkers on the left hand side of the green are not that difficult, its facing the down hill sloping green towards the water that leaves golfers shaking!!! Hole 16 The fourth and last of "Amens Corner" is a par 5,510 metres long, double dogleg left and is the most difficult hole on the course. A precise drive down the middle is required to set up the second shot. Forget about going for the green. Play your second shot hugging the right side of the fairway and any ball left of center will end up wet. From here an approach shot is easier to this bunker protected green. The rolls and subtle breaks will make putting difficult. A par on this hole is a great reward. Hole No 17 The longest par 4 on the cours, 420 metres dogleg right. The golfers optimum line is along the right side, narrowly avoiding a strategically placed fairway bunker. The second shot will require a long iron to fairway wood into a two tiered green bordred by high sided bunkers. A par here is well deserved. Hole 18 A beautiful finishing hole, par 4, 380 metres long and dogleg left. The hole is lined with a large lake along the entire right side and OB on left the entire length of the hole. This large hump back green has surrounding bunkers. Golfers must be careful with their second shot or bogeys and double bogeys are the best you will get. Once on the green a two putt par will be most satisfying.
